As you may already know, I've been looking forward to FanimeCon, the largest anime convention in Northern California, which runs from May 23 to May 26 in San Jose. I've been needing to get my wisdom teeth out, but I've got my appointment for that locked in for May 27. It wasn't easy to get that appointment--had to call in two months ago--but it's a good arrangement, everything's happy.

I come in to the dentist's office for a consultation today, and the receptionist tells me that the dentist will be on vacation on the 27th, and the earliest they can reschedule me for is July 18. (Apparently, they scheduled the original appointment before they knew the dentist's vacation schedule.) This is not an option; my family's moving before then, and I will (with any luck) be in Washington, D.C. After a quick chat, we manage to settle on May 23. Any earlier and it'd interfere with my finals; any other practitioner and I'd be at risk of being screwed over by the student insurance program.

This in effect leaves me with two options--come to Fanime doped up on Vicodin, or skip out. In either case, cute Matsuri cosplayers can probably rest easy.

Oh well, there'll be other cons, and my health is more important. And this way I don't have to worry about preparing a costume or getting Flowercrest Planetarium launched in time.
